The Department of Social Welfare (JKM) is the primary government body providing home modification assistance in Malaysia.
Bantuan Pengubahsuaian Rumah (Home Modification Assistance)
What it covers: Structural modifications to make a home accessible for OKU-registered individuals or elderly persons from low-income households. This includes ramps, grab bars, widened doorways, accessible bathrooms, and handrails.
Who qualifies:
- OKU-registered individuals (any category of disability)
- Elderly persons (60 years and above) from B40 households
- The home must be owner-occupied (not rented)
- The applicant must be a Malaysian citizen
Amount: Up to RM 10,000 per household for structural modifications. Actual amount depends on assessment by JKM officers.
